Some people attend church on Sunday mornings. I attend group training rides…whether they are in our basement or outdoors, they always provide a great workout with some AMAZING people!!
This is the time of year when the weather is cold and snowy, the days are short (though slowly getting a little longer each day) and time seems to stand still. Getting outside to ride has been virtually impossible this winter. I’m not sure who or what gave Old Man Winter such a bad attitude this year, but he is VERY crabby!! We’ve spent many hours on the trainer in our basement this winter, because of temperatures as low as -45F with windchill in January or thundersnow storms (that was a first for me) in February.
Our basement has several nicknames:
- The Pain Cave
- The Fencl House of Pain
- Fencl Torture Chamber
In my opinion, all of these have a negative connotation associated with them. I like to think of our basement as a mecca for cyclists…a much more positive connotation 😉
Here is a quick view of my mecca…
Week #11 Totals:
Swim: 5500 yards
Bike: 73.7 miles
Run: 26 miles
Strength Training: 2 hours & 15 minutes
Hot Yoga: 1 hour (my coach has told me no more hot yoga on Sunday afternoons due to the short time window to rehydrate between my 3 hour morning workout and the 90 minute hot yoga class at 4 pm)
Week #11 in the green 😉
