Sunday Smoothie Party

Sunday morning we had a 3 hour trainer ride in the “Sweat Cave” (the new name coined by an amazing friend and athlete).  The Iron Hippie and I started out riding by ourselves, and eventually we had 9 total people riding.  It is so nice to have such an amazing community to ride with and support our crazy IRONMAN goals 😉

At some point in almost every ride in the Sweat Cave, the conversation shifts to food, so we decided to have a “Smoothie Party” after our ride Sunday morning.  Everyone brought an ingredient or two (or many) and we concocted a variety of smoothies.

Here are some most of the ingredients that were used:

  • frozen fruit (strawberries, banananas, blueberries)
  • fresh fruit (blueberries, raspberries, bananas, pears)
  • sweet potatoes
  • avocado
  • beets
  • green veggies (spinach, kale)
  • juice (orange juice, carrot juice, lime juice, lemon juice)
  • milk (chocolate almond milk, soy milk, almond milk, cow’s milk)
  • yogurt
  • cinnamon
  • sweeteners (agave, maple syrup)
  • protein powder (egg white, whey, chocolate whey, hemp)
  • chia seeds
  • flax oil
  • justin’s maple almond butter

It was so much fun to mix up whatever came to mind and share it with everyone!!  Have you ever had a smoothie party?  What are some unique ingredients that you have used and smoothie concoctions that you have made?

    1. Thanks Erin!! It was a lot of fun 😉 The sweet potatoes are GREAT!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!! We bake them in the oven and peel them on Sundays and then leave them in a container in the refrigerator for smoothies…We typically put about 1/2 of a medium sized sweet potato in one loaded blender. It is a great thickener 🙂
