Spring Cleaning

I’ve recently decided to do some “spring cleaning” to improve the quality of my life.  Some areas of focus:

  • Facebook…I’ve decided to take some time and go through my contacts and “unfriend” those individuals who (in my opinion) are negative, disrespectful and unappreciative of others.  I want my world to be a happy place and when I see others sharing negativity, it often brings down my mood and I don’t like how it makes me feel.
  • The closets…They are full of clothes that I don’t wear.  It is definitely time to purge some of those items I haven’t worn in the last year.                                IMG_3316 IMG_3317
  • Blogs I follow…66 to be exact.  While you all write about amazing topics and hold a special place in my heart, I am going to have to cut back a little bit over the next few weeks and be more selective on the posts that I choose to read.  Saturday morning I spent almost 4 hours catching up on blog posts and another 2 hours Sunday morning. Being a teacher, I can devote more time during the summer months reading each of your posts.

  • The house…I know our house has been neglected lately.  With more demands placed on me during the last few weeks of school and an increase in my training hours, the house needs to be deep cleaned, but this may have to wait just a few more weeks until I am officially on summer vacation.

  1. That sort of ‘spring cleaning’ is definitely helpful – I did a bunch of it a month or so ago and it reduced my stress level. I also stopped worrying about posting on my blog on any specific day and remembered it was for ME. Good luck!

  2. We can all do with a lot less stress. I cleaned up my facebook as well. Went from 439 “friends” down to 159. Like you I removed that bring me down and kept the ones that lift me up on a regular basis.

  3. I’ve found social media can be a full time job. I don’t know how to keep up so I just do what I can, as TXA1265 says, it’s for me 🙂 Good for you for doing what you need to do to keep sane!

  4. Oh, can I relate to that! I need to weed through my bloglovin’ feed… it’s beyond overwhelming (I’ve more of less just click “mark as read” on many because I just don’t have time!). With our recent move, we’ve gone through our stuff and donated several carloads, with another one or two to go. Spring cleaning feels GOOD!

Awesome month of April! Glad to hear training is going well!

    1. Thanks Erin!! While moving is a challenge, sometimes I think it would be a good thing to do every now and then just to deep clean and purge unnecessary items. I hope the move went well and you are getting settled in your new digs 😉

  5. Wow 66 blogs. I thought I read a lot… Not sure how many maybe 20?!
Good job “spring” cleaning. It really feels good. After the ride from hell today we did some deep cleaning (I said please just another week….my BF said no….let’s just do it…and we did). You will be out of school soon enough and it will get done then!!

  6. I know the feeling. I’ve gotten so far behind on my reading. Time just goes by so quickly. Here I am at a Dr. appt at 4:00 in the morning, so I can get to work on time (but it gives me time to catch up on my reading at least). Anyway, Spring cleaning is totally necessary. Life gets too cluttered sometimes!!!

  7. Yes- spring cleaning feels so good once it’s all done!
I need to go through our closests again and donate things we haven’t worn in a year.
I also regularly go through by Bloglovin feed to remove blogs I follow. Although I love reading tons of people’s blogs, it can take up just too much time.

  8. I need to do a little spring cleaning myself, especially in the social media world. Blogs are tough for me to give up because I enjoy so many different blogs and have made a number of connections with people. I also try to set aside specific time to blog and catch up on blogs, especially in the morning while I am waking up and enjoying my morning coffee. 🙂

    1. I completely understand…that’s why I’m not giving up on the blogs, just cutting back on reading a few of them until summer break 😉
