34 Weeks ’til #IMBoulder

With 34 weeks to Ironman Boulder, this week wasn’t so successful in the category of working out. I had a cold most of the week and breathing was a bit of a challenge the first few days of the week, but I am starting to feel a bit better. I hope to be back in full workout mode this week.

Monday:

Scheduled: 1 hour of strength training

What happened: 1 hour massage…I have really TIGHT calves that are causing problems with my plantar fascia. While I don’t have plantar fasciitis yet, there are signs that I could have it if I don’t get these calves loosened up.

Scheduled: 1 hour swim and 50 minute run

What happened: No exercise…I slept almost 11 hours

Scheduled: 1 hour trainer ride and 1 hour hot yoga

What happened: 1 hour hot yoga…this was fun to see lots of friends at class, but I struggled to breathe

New swim suits came in the mail...now if I could just breathe so I can go use them

  1. I’m sorry you didn’t have the best week-getting colds must be an occupational hazard πŸ˜‰ Love the new green swimsuit.

    1. Thanks Amy! Yes…getting sick is an occupational hazard and a part of my job I definitely DON’T enjoy. I am going to wear the green suit tomorrow for swimming πŸ˜‰

  2. Great job balancing out not feeling well and getting in some solid sessions. Good luck getting those calves loosened up and limiting the problems with your plantar fascia. Have you ever battled plantar fasciitis in the past? I did several years ago and am always cautious about it creeping back in.

    1. Thanks Lee! I’ve never had plantar fasciitis problems before, so this is something new. Thankfully it isn’t causing problems yet and I hope it stays that way. I’ve been doing a really good job of stretching them out multiple times a day!

  3. Glad you are feeling better!! Rest is huge! Even when we don’t want to do it!! Great work outs at the end of the week!!
My week was great! Lots of good work outs. Easing back into the running has been fun. Swimming is feeling better again!!

    1. Thanks Leslie! I’m glad you are getting back to running and it is FUN!! I definitely am enjoying swimming lately as well. I can’t wait to get to the pool tonight!

  4. Glad you listened to your body and skipped some workouts- it’s still early in the game!
My week of training was alright. I think I did too much the week before since we were on holidays, so my body was really telling me to take it easy πŸ™‚

  5. 34 weeks out? I would not be doing anything too formal, just base training. Resting is good too, especially if you are ill. I have the Houston Marathon coming mid January. The roads have been non-runnable (icy, washboard, ankle breakers). Running on the dreadmill and indoor track. Thaw is coming this weekend that should clear the roads. Hoping for a twenty miler Sunday…

    1. We are in base building mode, and will be here for a bit. We should get some thawing this weekend, so hopefully you’ll have safer outdoor running.

    1. Thanks Kristen! I just hope round two doesn’t come in the spring semester. Kids carry a lot of germs, which is a hazard of my job.

I’m excited to get some motivation in the pool from my new suits πŸ˜‰
