Teaching
This year I have a GREAT group of 8th graders and I am lucky to enjoy going to work everyday…well, let’s be honest…it is work and there are days that are not always full of rainbows and unicorns, but I do love it most days 😉

Reading
Daring Greatly by Brene Brown…Making yourself vulnerable is the “most accurate measure of courage.” While I have not finished this read, it is one I would HIGHLY recommend!! “…we realize that to live with courage, purpose, and connection – to be the person whom we long to be – we must again be vulnerable. We must take off the armor, put down the weapons, show up , and let ourselves be seen.”
Balance
Post IMBoulder, we lost focus on our training for 9 weeks before we found ourselves again. Since getting back to training (which we LOVE), we have had to find that balance again between training, family time, friend time, cleaning/housework, work, blogging, etc. I do tend to thrive and be most efficient with my time when I have more on my plate. When there is less downtime, there is less time for distractions 😉
Training
I am SO excited to be training again! I love having a big goal on the calendar and something to work toward. Hello Ironman Wisconsin 2016…I am so happy to see you on my schedule and even happier to be seeing green in Training Peaks again 🙂

Loving
The changing seasons…Autumn is my favorite season! The cooler temperatures, the changing colors and the fewer daylight hours…well that last one I can do without. I do prefer the longer daylight hours 😉 Fall is definitely in the air and I am finding joy in all it has to offer!

Reflecting
Looking back through my Believe Training Journal has been rewarding, inspiring and motivating for me. It gives me the desire to want to work hard and chase dreams 🙂
Inspired
Lots of friends have been killing their fall races!! It has been so much fun to get to cheer them on in person and remotely!! They too have inspired me to work hard and chase dreams 🙂

Quote of the week
“We do not learn from experience…we learn from reflecting on experience.” ~John Dewey
What have you been up to lately? What is your favorite season and why? Any good reads lately? What/Who inspires you to do and be your best?
Love fall too! I enjoyed watching the Kona coverage on Saturday as well. I also tracked a couple of folks doing IM Louisville yesterday, so it was a very inspiring weekend! Sounds like things are in a good place for you! That is always something to appreciate!
I too was tracking people at IM Louisville yesterday, but also found time to swim and ride my bike. It was 82F here yesterday (which is typically unheard of this time of year), so I had to get out for a longer bike ride 🙂
I’m happy to read that things are falling into place for you! It is so much easier to keep on top of things when you have goals and schedules. I’ve just committed to losing this last 10lbs that has been hanging onto my middle for five years now. It’s time. I won’t be easy, but it’ll be worth it…and I’m sure my knees will enjoy less impact too 😉
Great goal! I’m excited to hear of your progress and what you will do to make it happen 😉
It doesn’t really feel fall here yet. I keep waiting, I know it’s coming, but it isn’t here. I miss the colors of the leaves changing, that’s for sure! And as for inspiration, I have discovered that if I’m going to do something, I need to make it count. What’s the point of just doing something, reaching a goal, if you’re not going to give it all you’ve got? There’s something to be said for doing an activity for fun (like off-season running or whatever), but if you do have an end goal (Ironman), make your time, effort, and money really count. Show ’em you mean it! I haven’t had time to read lately, although I started and have enjoyed “Wild”. I’ll finish it eventually!
“Wild” is a GREAT book…much better than the movie 🙂 I agree…if you have a goal, “make your time, effort and money really count.” I hope fall finds you soon enough…although that usually means it is more like winter here and that I can do without for a while longer 😉
I’ve read Daring Greatly as well, such a good read! Right now I am reading through a couple books, but one good one is Anatomy for Runners!
Thanks for the recommendation!! I’ll have to look into that one 🙂
Awesome!!! I still can’t believe you signed up for IMWI!! Yes…everyone is killing the fall races!! Kona was insane this year!!
IMWI is still open…you should sign up too! Prices go up tomorrow 😉 Kona was insane and so fun to watch!!
Oh shoot!! I am so close to deciding!! I guess I have to decide tonight!! 😉
I’m like you when it comes to balance and time. I need to have things on my schedule and do-to list to feel like I have a purpose. Haha. When there is too much time and I find myself bored, I tend to feel useless. I’m not good at doing nothing. ☺
Wow, you really do a great job of writing in your training journal. Did you see that there is now a purple and black option with upgrades? I might have to get one for 2016!
My favorite season is summer – but fall is a very close second. I think the transition from one to the other is the perfect timing.
I too have to-do lists and sometimes I write things down just to cross them off because I completed that task. Ha ha 😊
I did see there is a purple and black training journal, but had already ordered and received new red ones for me and a friend before these became an option. I love writing in journals. I am definitely a pen and paper girl at heart 😉
